Joe Goldberg returns, now attempting to build a more refined and intellectual life while teaching at a university. Surrounded by aspiring writers, he becomes fascinated with a talented but troubled student, seeing in her both potential and a new kind of connection. As Joe tries to embrace a more controlled version of himself, his obsessive instincts slowly resurface.
