Jake Epping is a thirty-five-year-old high school English teacher in Maine who discovers, through his friend Al, that the back of a local diner contains a portal to 1958. Al enlists Jake on an extraordinary mission: to travel back in time and prevent the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. Living under the alias George Amberson, Jake embarks on a years-long journey through the late ’50s and early ’60s — but the deeper he goes, the more he finds himself torn between his mission and a life, and a love, he never expected to find in the past.
